Kelsie's Rabbitry

Quality Mini Rex Rabbits

Hi, My name is Kelsie Watson, i am 17 years old, and i have been raising Rabbits for about 3 years, i first got started like many other breeders, with some pet rabbits that i bred to sell to people as pets. my first attempt at owning a rabbitry, i had some commercial rabbits ( a mini Rex buck and 5 dutch does) Well all the while i was still wanting to get into pedagreed rabbits, at first i thaught about breeding Dutch as my main breed, but then i saw a website that had these beautiful little bunnies with CUTE faces and floppy ears, i just had to have one! so that is where the hollands came from, i was on the search for the best bloodlines i could come accross, when i found my best friend in the rabbit world! Lauren Barber and her family! they have been the best people to me! they showed me things about Hollands that i did not even know were important! i owe them all the bigest thanks i could give! Lauren's rabbitry is where i get most of my rabbits from! they are the best quality hollands i have found!

On September the 19th 2006 i went to my first REAL rabbit show in Washington PA. that is when i got into the other breeds, I decided before i even went that i wanted another small breed, but i could not choose! My sister Lisha, was with me, she was walking arround when she found a lady who had 2 Himilayans for sale! so she bought them, i on the other had were still looking for another breed! I found the cutest little breed, the Polish! they are so cute, i got a black doe and a broken Chocolate buck! then Lauren and her mom found me a dutch buck that would go with my Dutch doe that i still had from my original attempt at my rabbitry! he was a blue dutch! well my mom went with me to the show, and she ABSOLUTLY fell in love with Fuzzy Lops, ( i have to do ALL the brushing LOL..) but she loves her 2 fuzzys! they are both pointed white carriers!

My rabbitry consists of about 30 holes! so its not big, but i do the best i can with what i have! i breed for the breeds, and the safety of those breeds! i love it, and after coleage i plan on geting a biger place, and raiseing more rabbits, hopefuly i will be raising Hollands, and Polish! but i know that this industry has a hold on me!

In 2007 i sold out of most of my Show stock, but decided to get back into bunnies again this time with a new beed the Netherland Dwarf. i loved them from the first time i saw them. well i decided on a color. Selfs and otters. thats what i wanted to breed, so i made it happen. allthou my rabbitry is still going to be small. i plan on geting my degree, moving out to a biger place and still keeping my bunnies arround.
